Yom Ha Shoah Remembrance Day Community Service

  • Greenwood Cemetary | 1173 Cascade Cir SW | Atlanta, GA 30311

Teens are needed to help out at the community wide Yom Ha Shoah Remembrance Day event at the Memorial to the Six Million. The event is jointly sponsored by the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum, Eternal Life Hemshech and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.

The most moving part of the ceremony occurs when the survivors attending the event light memorial candles for a child victim of the Holocaust.  We need teen volunteers to bring the candles to the survivor and to assist them in lighting it.  It sounds simple and is, but it is also really helpful, highly moving and meaningful.  Teens would also have the opportunity to listen to the survival story of one of Atlanta survivors of the Holocaust.

The time commitment is from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The event may qualify for Community Service hours.
